Refurbished at&t 8700c off of "Premier" - Worthwhile purchase?

I've been looking to purchase a backup Blackberry just in case something happens to my Pearl. A family member offered to purchase something through her Premier account for me. Since it is going to be a back up unit, I wanted something relatively inexpensive even though the 8300 and 8800 look mighty tempting. But the refurb 8700 caught my eye. The price is right, it's based off the jog dial design and it just seems like a better "backup" unit than the new offerings.

Has anyone purchased a refurbed 8700 from at&t and if you have, how were they? Good as new and has given you no issues or should I pass on it and just purchase new?

I would never buy a refurb. Ever.

I just got a refurbished 8700 through T-Mobile and it was in better condition than the brand new unit I received 6 months ago. But another person in the same position got one with a few days of me and his didn't take a charge. You are definitely taking your chances. If you do get one, check it out and use it to make sure it works since your warrenty is probably 90 days.

never get refrubs. You will slowly get problems.

check this out !

I bought a " NEW " 8700c as my main device from Premier to add to my already stellar 8700c lineup and I kidd you not : ITS REFURBISHED ! I know this is just me speculating but it just " feels " different then my old 8700c felt when I first bought it and it responds slower. It also has a different battery type and instead of coming from Canada it comes from Mexico. Now i've been and like Mexico but something isn't right with this 8700c. It definitely " feels " like a refurb ... i mean , i did get it cheap ( $ 65.00 ) but it was suppose to be a new unit .... not the devices labled as " refurbs " .(n)
