Device switch and restore problems
The device switch seems to be a bit of a mess.
When you try and switch a device you must have the new device to hand for the switch to complete. In my case someone restarted the computer and I lost it. There should be an option to save it. The back up carried out before the switch was useless as the restore did not restore all the installed applications. Similarly the device switch I made to my media card also did not reinstall all the applications. It seems to me me it would be a lot simpler if the desktop backup allowed a complete backup of all data and applications -everything- which could then be restored. I ticked all the buttons on a backup and it made no difference. The applications were not reinstalled. Perhaps there is a way to retrieve the device switch data and apps and I'd be grateful if someone could tell me how. Thanks |
Re: Device switch and restore problems
I use BBSAK to backup my apps. Much more certainty in that.
Then backup your old device with the BlackBerry Desktop Software. Then connect your new device, skip the Switch. Selectively Restore those items I want to restore. Then load apps I want to install from the BBSAK backup, or install fresh, ESPECIALLY if you are moving from one OS level to another, say OS5 to 7 or 6 t0 7... better safety in installing the apps fresh. |
Re: Device switch and restore problems
Thanks. I searched BBSAKS in App World and couldn't find it. Can you please give me some more info.

Re: Device switch and restore problems
It wouldn't be in app world since it is an app for a PC. Search google for BBSAK. Btw, it stands for BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife.
