everyone probably already knows about this but Google Sync Google Mobile - Sync (http://www.google.com/mobile/blackberry/sync/index.html) works pretty well, it is only for Calendar though

it won't do contacts but the calender sync works fine over standard wireless data connection (no BES)

If your WiFi browser is working (it should be) then you can visit gmail.com and use it just fine :)
some things like google docs, calendar, etc. mostly work, others don't

Make sure you are using the Wifi browser, that works fine with cellular radio off or the SIM removed on my 8820. If it still doesn't work, try updating the OS, or getting the handset unlocked.

Hmm well so the wifi browser should work over Wi Fi even without BB data?
Options -> Browser -> Default has always been set to Wi-Fi

But with cellular wireless disabled nothing can get any...
