I understood the question to be can you assign a separate ringtone to individual people for when they send you an SMS, (like you can for a call). I don't think it's possible.

Thanks to the stickied thread about adapters on the bbf's bluetooth forum (I can't post url's yet), I was finally able to use my Pearl to get my laptop on the web via bluetooth.

Are you sure they aren't going into his spam folder for some reason. Are they being returned as undeliverable? Have you added the contact from an email received by him rather then entering it...

That's strange. I only need to charge my battery every couple of days. I would say my usage is moderate and consists of receiving/sending emails/sms, phone calls and viewing media files.
