BlackBerry's headlong rush into the consumer space came largely at the sacrifice of their enterprise focus. In 2011 a BlackBerry corporate insider wrote an open letter to Mike and Jim (then co-CEOs of RIM) that hit a lot of nails right on the head. And while he didn't specifically mention focusing on loyal enterprise users, perhaps this idea would have come to light if BlackBerry execs were listening to their user base.
