I have had my 8220 flip for almost a year. About a week ago, my external notifications for SMS/MMS messages quit working (whether the external screen is active or inactive/asleep when the message arrives), and opening my phone immediately after a message arrives no longer automatically opens the message on the main screen. All other functions are working fine.

I have tried turning the phone off, taking the battery out, and checking online for software updates (nothing helped). The phone's current External Notification options are as follows:
Automatic Backlight: Yes
Display Notification Details: Always
Display Message Preview: Yes
Noticiation Duration: Long
Manual Review Mode: Standard
