Default Consumer Cellular Data Configuration

Please Login to Remove!

I recently signed up for a data plan with Consumer Cellular (CC). I would like to use my Blackberry 8300 (originally from AT&T) for data access. The 8300 works great with Consumer Cellular for voice (after SIM card swap). The CC web site gives suggestions on how to configure non-CC phones to access their data network, but the suggestions don't seem to jive with the Advanced Options settings that are available on my BB 8300. Can anyone who has this working share their settings, or otherwise give hints on making it work. Thanks!

John

Looked at their website briefly and I don't see where they provide Blackberry Data plans.

To add to what devnull says, John, BlackBerrys are different. The directions you looked at most likely apply to accessing the carrier network, and might apply to other smartphones.

But as devnull is saying, BlackBerrys require a specific BlackBerry data plan to access the BlackBerry/RIM network and use the native BlackBerry data apps. It is possible to use some third-party apps on the carriers data network via the carrier's APN (configured in TCP/IP options), but that's as far as you will get without a BlackBerry data plan.

When you have the plan, the configuration is accomplished via service books that are automatically pushed to the handset. And if your carrier does not support BlackBerrys, then you are out of luck as far as BlackBerry data.
