i want to get the list of all applications installed on my device and than want
to block the use of some application for a particular time interval..........

You can get a list of running applications, see ApplicationManager.

You can get a list of installed applications, see CodeModuleManager.

However, there is no API to block an application from running. Not sure how you would go about this.

Sorry, I was reading both of your posts and posted this answer in the wrong place:

The only think I can think of: poll the "running" applications list periodically. If a "blocked" application is running and has the focus, pop a global-modal dialog that says "restricted application" or something like that. Do not allow the user to dismiss the dialog. The dialog will come up over the top of whatever screen the application is showing.

No, I don't have a "sample" program; I'm simply giving you some options based on my experience.

If you don't know how to push a modal screen, then you are probably asking the wrong questions.

You should start with the basics.

See the class ApplicationManager - you can use this to view the running ("visible") applications.

See the class UiApplication (all applications with a UI extend this class).
