Your error could be anything from service blocked by carrier to a speed dial number miss programmed. Is this a new phone or one you just bought?
More detail will help. If it's a new phone and never worked it may be blocked by the carrier because it was reported as stolen. Check with the carrier to make sure your SIM is valid and working with them.
