My only complaint with my current 7100 is that it’s impossible to use when there is any type of background noise (for example food court at a mall). Is the 8100 going to be louder? Any feedback would be great from someone who has used one….

well, the 7130c fixed that pretty much so I am guessing the 8100 should at least be as good as the 7130c, if not better...

8700g and 8100 are louder than 7100t. Have no worries.

My wife - who is hard of hearing - went from a 7290 to a 8700. I cannot pry the 8700 out of her hands now. She can hear perfectly. She says that next to our Tivo, this is the best thing I've given her.
