Hard reset = pull the battery out and reinsert it

If the OS is deleted you will need to reinstall it yourself

I highly doubt that anyone will be giving you a phone number for someone in India.

Welcome to the forums.

If you're talking about a hard reset aka wipe clean.....there is a program called jl_cmder that can wipe the blackberry. I've never tried it but it completely wipes the blackberry of everything. A backup would be necessary of course if you're trying to retrieve some of your old stuff.

It could reboot your phone, but the 8100 has an icon for Soft Reset, same difference.

Oh really, I just found the SoftReset program about a week ago. It didn't come with the phone, but it's free and works great.

And I just recently found out that you can go to Options>Security Options>General Settings, hit your menu button and select "Wipe Handheld" I'm guessing this is kind of like a factory reset and doesn't actually clear the operating system. Does anyone know for sure what this does?

So you deleted your OS already?

If not use JL_Cmder to wipe your blackberry. It can be found in the download section of this website, I think, maybe different website. Try searching google or this site for it.

To reinstall the operating system, you will need to download and install on your pc the newest version of the Desktop Manager and whatever operating system you want to put on your phone.

Once you have done that, you can connect your phone to your pc with the usb cable that came with your phone and use the Application Loader in the Desktop Manager to install the operating system.

Try searching. There are some threads in this forum that explain in more detail what you need to do.

Hope this helps and good luck to you.

You just got it? Is it new or used?

First thing you should try is to pull the battery out while it is on and leave it out for about a minute or so. Then put the battery back in again and turn it on. This fixes a lot of problems you may have with your pearl.

The only time I've seen that on my screen was when I wiped the Operating System off my pearl to do a reinstall. Maybe you need to reinstall the operating system.

Give some more information about whether it is used or you bought it new. Was it working before?

Wait and see if someone more knowledgable of the blackberry comes along and see what they say.

No idea why you would post in this section but anyways try a hard reset (pull the battery out and reinsert it) if that doesn't work then you should whipe your BB and use the jl that people have posted from above.

I saw the same icon when I wiped the device using the application jl_cmder. Following are the steps:
1.Hard reset the device, you can also wipe using desktop manager
2.Keep the usb connected
3.Open desktop manager and click Application Loader. Desktop manager will automaticatlly detect the device connected.
4.Select the options to install and follow the steps till the device starts up. It will take a while to start again.

Hope it helps.

Hard reset = Battery pull, anyways basically use the magic jl_cmder and whipe it like he says... this is an old thread don't know if he still needs to know how to fix it... but it were me I wouldn't be able to live without my BB for that long

Thanks for this post - your steps worked perfectly for me! I appreciate when people like you post the procedure on how to do something. That eliminates the 20 follow up posts for those that only give the "run this command" tip and forget to tell us about the other steps involved in solving a problem. Posters like you make forums 1,000x more useful and efficient. Mad props for your first post!
