I am new to BB developing I am not even a developer, I need to know a few things.

1. How do I use a subroutine/method.

2. How do I call a subroutine/method with a button push?

3. How do is store input from a text box in a variable so i can make a simple calculation.

I am writing an application which takes a number from the user and by using a calculation returns a specific number which matches the password on another computer.

I have written this in VB already and it works fine however i am tired of booting my laptop every time I need this number.

i want to put this on my blackberry.

Since you are new to developing, I suggest you start with the developer labs from BlackBerry: BlackBerry. That will help you to get started.
A search on the BlackBerry site and on this site will give you more info on which development environment to use. Probably JDE 4.x
