Default Telenav voice through car speakers???

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I've got an AT&T 8820, and am using Telenav. I would like to pipe the voice directions through the car speakers - I've got a Parrot Handsfree Kit that pairs with the 8820 via Bluetooth, and it is set up to use the car speakers and external microphone.

But, when I use Telenav, it automatically uses the 8820 speaker. Anyway to get Telenav to use the car speakers? This is probably a question for Telenav and/or Parrot, but perhaps someone has some ideas???

I would only think that this would work best if your cars stereo/headunit was also bluetooth enabled for A2DP support.

You can do this the old-fashioned way, if you connect a cassette adapter to the headset plug on the BB...

Wishful thinking on your part, I'm afraid, Danabw, despite your 642 posts... It doesn't work like that. In fact, according to Gina at Telenav, there is no way to redirect the audio from Telenav to an earphone or external speakers:

"External audio devices such as headsets are not supported for use with TeleNav GPS Navigator. We cannot offer assistance with these devices."

"These devices" being Blackberries.

End of story?

Only if we don't cajole Telenav into figuring out how to do it. This is the only program I've ever seen that cannot route its audio to the speaker, bluetooth, or the earphone jack. Pitiful. Makes me want to cancel my telenav account and just go with Google Maps.

I would have to disagree, when I was using a Blackberry 8800 with Rogers, when I would use Telenav, the sound came thru my Bluetooth headset, I had no setup to do, it just worked. If I wasn't wearing my headset, then the sound would come thru the Blackberry speaker.
