Default Free use of maps on BB?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone. I'm interested in getting a BB and know that it has a BB map function. I checked out a lot of posts on here, but couldn't find the answer I need.

Is it possible to use the BB map offline so that I don't have to subscribe to any BB plans? If not, is there any other map that I can download and transfer to the BB to allow this offline mapping in Hong Kong? Thanks very much in advance for any help offered.

you can't use bbMaps without connecting to the net, but you can use Gmaps offline, by downloading maps from google into your sd card

Default Thanks

Wow. That was a quick reply. I will check into it. I am using a windows mobile device now (the dash - bad audio quality) and am wanting to get a used curve 8300. The map function is something that I really want to have in my next phone.

If you like maps, make sure to get the model 8310 because that one has the built-in GPS.

BTW you don't need a specific BB plan to download the google maps, only a GPRS subscription....
offcourse you still need the GPRS subscription
