My husband has a 8120 Pearl (TMO) and it has software 4.3.x and works with a 4GB MicroSDHC just fine (only recognizes 3.7GB though- is this common?)

Yes, that's normal. Some of the card space is used for formatting and system files.

I am currently using a Micro SD/Transflash 4gb card I got from Itrimming.com. I have a 8110 and it works fine. The card doesn't say SDHC but works great. $27.68 with adapters.

Since it's well known that 4Gb cards (and higher) work fine with BlackBerrys now I am closing this thread.
