10 was a hard one, several games are fun so I picked the one I play most. I would add a #11 as a backup for 'World Clock' so I know what time it is in Hong Kong. I kinda wished this was built into the BB (multiple timezone applet).
From where did you get "SoftReset"?

OK I found a link to this for ya but for some reason this silly site won't let me post the link saying "you are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 10 posts or more." but it is a link to THIS site.

For me its:

Opera Mini - renders web sites much better than the BB Browser
Ramble IM - uses data and not text for IMs
Google Maps - I can get lost in a shoebox if you give me an hour and a flashlight
Texas Hold Em 2 - for my METRO commute
DopeWars - again, for my commute
GMail - my other main email
SoftReset - underappreciated app IMO

Best part of list above: all free

1. Phone
2. Email
3. PDA functions

The rest are up to you but they can interfere with the reason I use Blackberry, the first three!

Can someone please tell me in simple words why google talk is so great on a mobile phone? I did some searching and couldn't find any compelling reason why I should download this app. Isn't it just another IM?

yes it is just another IM network, like AIM, Yahoo, MSN etc. But it is nice because it is the same "chat" feature built into Gmail. Some places you cannot install the IM program and most web-based IM versions are not that great - so the Gmail chat is nice, being part of the email also. That is just my opinion of why I like it. And I just do not like the other 3.

Jive Talk
Berry 411
Berry Search
Google Maps
Texas Hold 'Em 2
Opera Mini

I don't think Jive Talk is any better than OZ but it uses data.
I use Opera Mini and BB Browser about the same
Berry 411 is great, as is Berry Search
Texas Hold 'Em is a gas!

Couldn't agree more... but remember the forum we're on! The Pearl was designed by Blackberry for the masses to appeal to the razr crowd. They've done a hellofa job... its a great little phone that does all the music and video that the kids want, but it just happens to be a Blackberry.
BTW... this is not a slam at all on the kids buying these devices, but rather the hopes that these kids appreciate the power of a Blackberry and will be sold for life!!!

On my device I can't change the Theme (and other settings), something about the way the app is coded won't let me select a choice different that the first one in each set of radio button options. I have this problem with a few generic J2ME applets, sadly.

If you figure out a way to do this, holler! It still works fine and does what I need, but I'd love to choose the Digital theme instead of that default Wood one... (I sent a note to the devs but never heard back)

MY TOP Apps ( in no order)

* Google bundle (Maps, News, Search shortcut)- Free & useful
* Berry 411- Free and Very useful with all its shortcuts kind of like a mini firefox
* Voice Recorder from Shape services- Beta right now, but easy and nice
* Opera Mini- Love how rich the colors look, and how i can switch back & forth between this and BB browser, so making it like 2 tabs for me
* Yahoo Go!- Still a Beta but looks to be really improving and impressing
* Lanterna J2ME- The flashlight app, very useful when looking for stuff @ nite
* BB messenger - Built in but love it
* IM - Built in but also comes in handy
