mine worked this AM, though not consistently...Find Location>Where I Am was stuck on searching for satellites. But I tried "Start GPS Navigation" and that found my location quickly. Then I went back to the Find Location option and it worked again.
I suspect they have some issues to work out - either in the service book or on the server side...hopefully this will get more consistent/reliable.

Nevermind, working again. FYI it also works on newest 4.5 release (4.5.0.122).

Also works on 4.5.0.97 (beta) on the Pearl, also seen folks using it on Pearl w/.77, .89, and I believe .66.

The Pearl internal GPS won't work (can't find satellites) so the internal GPS may not be as robust as some external pucks.

that's because the Pearl doesn't have GPS, just triangulation, Verizon controls the level of precision the phone is allowed to use, so your probably just not getting a strong enough signal from at least three towers.

Not entirely correct. Some Pearl models DO have GPS.

It finally worked for me, once. I tried it again 5 minutes later and it stopped working (kept searching for satellites). So, it is very intermittent.

BB Maps is now working for me (with GPS location). I did not even have to Start GPS Location. I did have to install BB Maps, though. Google Maps shows my location accurate to 2300 meters (i.e. tower triangulation) and just says "Waiting for GPS"

BB Maps is working much better now that I only use the "Start GPS Navigation" option rather than "Find Location"...for some reason Find Location feature fails most of the time, while the GPS Navigation seems to work well.
The 8130 does indeed have GPS...the new Pearls:
8110: GPS, no WiFi
8120: WiFi, no GPS
8130: GPS, no WiFi

Was working great on my Verizon Curve this morning, for awhile, then it stopped and hasn't been working since. I keep checking it though, hoping it wasn't just a big mistake at Verizon that someone is getting fired over.
I was impressed that it showed me how fast my car was driving, to the exact MPH too.

OH! It's working again! Probably had nothing to do with it, but I updated my 4.5 OS to the newest 4.5.0.89 and it started working again. Happy now
And both functions ("Start GPS Navigation" and "Find Location") work perfectly and quickly find me.

Mine is working perfectly. How do you go about turning it on/off? just closing BBMaps? a few posts back said its going to drain battery faster - THAT I cant live with!

Hit the menu key-Stop GPS Navigation-then close BB Maps

I highly doubt it. I think it was a smart move they opened it up to work with the device manufactures software.

I probably shouldn't do this, but I can't help it... I've been following most of the VZW GPS Posts actively, in all forums... And you... You are quite rude and out of place in most of them.. You repeatidly jump down people's throats for posting things you don't find appropriate... With "all due respect" (not that you are due any) you are a user here, just like the rest of us.. Stop acting so arrogant! If a post or topic is wasteful or bothersome to you for one reason or another, how about you ignore it, or don't read it, instead of posting your dissagreement in each and every one of them!
