Oh no not nervous...just didn't know if there would be any pro's or con's to using a release that was for another carrier and deleting the said file for it to work

I'm having one problem since the update. After I end a call the green coverage led stays illuminated. the only way to shut it off is to go into settings and disable it then re-enable it.

Here is the sequence (again):

- Download the OS to your PC and install it
- Locate and delete VENDOR.XML from your PC
- Start Desktop Manager; application loader should try to load the new OS

I think ppl may be have an issue with the line "i installed the new update for tmo" and felt that you are implying that you got an update from T-Mobile.

And there are several changes already noted. Like the ringer not shutting off when the trackwheel is pressed and the phone is locked. That was a huge problem...

If you have a 507, it means that the OS is corrupt or missing. The load failed.

Start Desktop Manager and then start Application Loader. See what happens then.

Yes. If the load failed your OS is wiped out.
Start DM and then start Application Loader.

I successfuly installed this update and unlocked the Vodafone Today theme (which is my favorite). It is slightly different. The icon for the Profile is now larger and in the upper right corner. Easier for my old eyes to see. Also, you get to the menu by pressing the menu button, not scrolling to the bottom of the screen.

The pocket/ringer problem is indeed fixed. The ringer only stops for a second when you move the trackball. That should give you sufficient time to decide if you want to answer the call or ignore. Another problem I had with the old OS is fixed. Now when you put the phone in standby mode with the mute button, the mute button brings the phone back out of standby mode without asking for a password.

I am happy, many thanks to the experts on this board.

Thanks. I got it loaded back up. Now i'm restoring all my data. This is another fine example of why you should back before you do any OS changes.

Where did you get the vodafone theme? (to the poster above)
