@igotanblackberrypearl

Does the video you want to convert play on your computer? Are you sure the file is good (ie. not corrupted)? If you cant play it on your PC the chances of it playing on your BlackBerry are slim to none.

Actually, BB supported .avi's won't play on the pc but will play on the BB, so that isn't always a valid test.

Agreed, but I figured that if the video wont play on his BlackBerry without conversion that its not one of those BlackBerry supported files.

True, Doug. I think the origin of the video is suspect at this point.

itgotanblackberrypearl,
Have you tried a different video?

Can you try running a different video through the Roxio software in Desktop Manager, just like John Clark instructed earlier.

I own the DVD-the 300; I used SlySoft to make the computer think it was an unprotected DVD, then used BlackBerry's own conversion tool to rip and encode the movie directly from my the DVD drive on my laptop- this was before the release of the DM with Roxio, so I can't say how well Roxio works.

I simply couldn't get the hang of using the program Super that's mention in another thread somewhere here on these boards. The BB program works great, was free, and a no-brainer to use.

I don't know what's wrong with your setup. I just used Roxio to convert an .avi file from my video camera to my BB and it worked just fine using the instructions I've provided above.
