Does anyone know if I can replace the hard casing of my blackberry 7290. Reason being, it's all scratched up. If it is possible, how do I go about in finding it and getting it done? Thanks in advance.

It's pretty straight forward all you'll need is a Torx T6 screw driver to open and close the case.

I have had to use a T7 - the T6 just spun in the screws (on a brand new BlackBerry).

Promobility are out of stock on 7290 hard casing, will be a few months before new ones come in.

For those with a strong sense of adventure and a Torx T6, I have found that ultra-fine sandpaper can remove fairly deep scratches on my 7250 housing. Just be very careful around that metal frame surrounding the screen. Also, after removing the screws, be gentle when prying the two halves of the shell apart.

I had already replaced my original housing with a "new" one from Promobility when yesterday the "new" one took a tumble on concrete, thanks to the 360 swiveling Blackberry case once again ejecting the berry forward from the 180 degree position. Anyway, the replacement housing is now gouged beyond repair, but I was able to sand the old one to the point that all of the scratches are now difficult if not impossible to detect. Only a pinpoint of one of the scratches is left, the remaining ones have vanished.

I am going to store the repaired case until the next time the berry decides to take a leap.

what grit did you use? I have been thinking of painting my case just not sure if i am that adventurous. When i remove the screws how hard is it to pry the case apart?

I'll check grit when I get home tonight, all I know is that the package said "Ultra-Fine" and that it took off very little plastic, so for the deeper gouges it took awhile. As for prying the case apart, it isn't difficult, it's just that the pieces click together and so they resist a little as you are prying at them. I seem to remember that applying some gentle top to bottom pressure on the back of the housing helped.

I probably should add that it's definitely easier to be adventurous with a housing when you already have one and the one you're working on is in the worse shape of the two.
