Default Will install of .480 prevent my T-Mobile from receing OTA updates in future?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

Will downloading & installing .480 prevent my phone from receiving OTA updates from T-Mobile in future, and will it prevent desktop manager from finding latest official OS from carrier as well if I ever wanted to go back to carrier only OS?

Like if I am on .480, and T-Mobile releases an official one e.g. 478, will I get that update thru DM or OTA?

Thanks in advance!

If T-mobile operates anything like AT&T, then installing an OS unrecognized by T-Mobile will prevent the OTA update check from working (and this may not be a carrier issue as much as it's just the way things work). You can always manually install any future OS updates, however, just as you are contemplating doing now with 480.

Thanks Ian, if I install a future T-Mobile update after .480, then will OTA's come back?

As far as I understand it, yes. I have always manually updated my phones, so I don't know from experience, however.
