After I screwed up my 7105t I got my friends old 7100 phone. He had dropped it in the toilet (don't ask). After that his battery stopped working properly, and his back button does not work at all. I replaced the battery with mine, but this back button thing is a headache because if I go into any menu which doesnt have a close option in the menu, I can't get out, and have to take the battery out just to be able to get out. For example if I go under options/applications I cant get out because if im in two levels and there are no options but other options with sub-options there is no option to close.

I don't think the actual physical button is messed up, its prob something else. I was wondering if there was a way to assign the function of the back button to a different key (which isn't really used) ?

The red phone (hang up) key always takes you back to the home screen. As far as the button goes, I don't know what to tell you. You can't map any other buttons to do the escape funtion. You'd need to get the button replaced. If you've ever had the phone apart you'd see that it's a tiny little thing you'd have to put under a microscope almost to see it. Good luck.
