the blackberry api provides support for gzip. not sure if you have control over the end zipped product, but it's useful if you do.

Exclamation ofcourse looking on it

Hello sha,

i saw the compress api provided by blackberry but what happens is it helps only till the point of getting the zip files as you said, anyway i am trying to look how to eal with the end zip files on the device once they are downloaded.

One core doubt is does blackberry support zip format on its OS.

Thanks & Regards,
Siva Charan Guduru.

it is important to understand that gzip and pkzip are completely different formats. well, they are both called zip

anyway, gzip is a stream zipper which just allows to compress a data stream. this is very useful for rim as they can compress their data streams with the BES or whatever.

if you want to store several files in one zip file you need a pkzip file, which means you need pkzip functionality and that is not part of the blackberry api yet.
