Many RSS feeds can be used with the blackberry internet and hotspot browsers. The menu will contain 'get audio' if the article contains an audio (or video) attachment. Thus, a user can follow and download podcasts using just a browser bookmark. Not as convenient as a podcatcher app, but ok.
Small podcasts can be downloaded with the internet browser, even on EDGE. You'll need better than EDGE for the larger files, and the hotspot browser if the file size exceeds the download size limit for the internet browser.
As an example, NPR just put up a new video podcast for their tiny desk concert series. Check it out. (Don't try this if you are only on EDGE or GPRS. Use wifi, and the hotspot browser.)

The .m4v format plays ok on 9700. I know I had trouble in the past with this format sometimes on an older model with older OS.
The blackberry browsers don't handle some RSS formats, just as the browser doesn't handle all websites out there. And some feeds do not stay marked as read.
Who else is doing this and what feeds do you like/recommend that will work in the internet or hotspot browser?
