Default 7100G just stopped working, and then started again

Weird. I was on the phone, hung up, put it in the holster and went to take it out 10 minutes later and noticed that it 'was searching for a network'. I thought that I could be in a dead zone, and didn't worry about it. A few minutes later I was in an area that I usually use the phone, and it had no signal, no gsm/gprs/GRPS. nothing.

Started looking in options. Found there was no Network defined

Turned on and off. nothing changed

Pulled the sim card out, reseated it, and nothing changed.

then it just got religion and started working.

What happened?
