Great Thread, Stins. Let's hope we can either figure out a fix or help TN figure one out.

Model: 8100
BT Puck Model: Globalsat BT-359
Working or not: Yes
Worked on 4.7: Yes on 8100 with 4.2.1.66 and 4.2.1.94. However, I had many BT disconnects with 4.7 and these earlier device OS versions (also had them with Google and BBMaps, though.) The only way to reconnect was to turn off BT on the BB device and turn on again and open Telenav again. 4.2.1.96 seemed to have fixed the issue with 4.7. TN version 5.1 and 4.2.1.96 works beautifully (with GlobalSat-BT359.)

So, it doesn't work on either .96 or .94. This is good info. Thanks for the feedback! Anyone still have 4.2.1.66? or 4.2.0 OS's working with TeleNav 5.1 and a BT puck other than the BT-359?

its obviously a deliberate decision by telenav to "lock" it to only the globalsat 359 so no point in upgrading os unfortunately....

Model-8300
OS-4.2.2.89
Carrier - ATT
Software - TeleNav 5.1.0.29
BT Puck Model - Tried Holux GPslim240
Working or Not - nope
New BT Puck Model - GlobalSat BT-359
Working or Not - YES

This is an outrageous situation, particularly TeleNav's unwillingness to support or acknowledge problems with anything but their own puck.

I've been struggling with the same issue as everyone else and have found a (somewhat) reliable solution.

I turn on my BT puck (some no-name I got from geeks.com) and then turn on Telenav 5.1 (I'm using a Pearl on ATT, btw). It says I must repair the BT connection, which I do. It then starts the software, but doesn't work (tells me I have a weak GPS signal, blah blah blah). However, if I then go into preferences and change the GPS setting from 'Bluetooth' to 'Internal', save the settings, then go back in and change them back, the software will connect to the GPS and work like a charm. I would say that this method works 9 out of 10 times.

So it's obvious that the software WILL work with pucks other than theirs, they just need to update the software to fix the bluetooth connection.

Edit: I'm on the latest ATT release. .96 I believe it is.

Great tip, Jon. I actually had this happen with my BT-359 last week. I started it all up like normal but got the same messages you got. I finally just deleted the puck from the BT list, rebooted and re-paired and got it to work again. Hopefully it's a bug they'll work out.

Do you have to do this little circus act EACH time you go to use TeleNav?
