Angry BB Desktop 6.1 frozen while "initializing new device" - Curve 8330

Please Login to Remove!

I've got old Blackberry Curve 8330 with Verizon and Vista Business PC. I have upgraded my BB to latest Boost Mobile OS 5.0, no issue there (done by deleting vendor.xml file of course)

I cannot seem to make Desktop Manager 6.1 "initialize new device". It is simply stuck on the following popup:

"You have connected a new Blackberry device. Initializing device..."

I have searched many forums on the internet, and the the only recommended solutions I can find to it is deinstall and reinstall DM, manually update Blackberry USB drivers, change USB cable and ports which I have done many times to no avail.

One thing that has worked however: creating new Vista Profile and using DM there worked w/o hitch. However this profile does not have Outlook 2003 cilent profile (not sure if this is an issue). Also, I cannot simply abandon all my Vista profile customizations simply because BB DM does not work.

There must be a way to trouble shoot this issue, or at least interpret what exactly is happening (for example using DM dektop logs, can anybody understand them?)

If anybody has any constructive idea on how to proceed or what to do please help. I cannot just accept the fact that there is no way determining step by step what exactly is happening and where the problem lies!

Not that this is much help but the only thing I found searching RIM was a possible issue with multiple profiles or one that is corrupted. You might try using a profile that did work before. The other issue is normally switching devices is what is used to replace a BB. it may be that DM thinks the device is new and is attempting to avoid the profile shown on DM.
As i said not much to go on and RIM has no direct info that I can find.

What worked for me - I've been hung up with my Bb before due to my password. I disconnected my bb mid-"initializing freeze" then shut down bds. Next, I just went to Options/Password and disabled my password. Then I reconnected my Bb and launched bds 6.1 again it initialized immediately that time.
