Default Black Screen Mid-reboot

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I am just curious as to what is wrong with my 9700. I went to bed last night, plugged my phone in the charger, and when I woke up the screen was black and the phone was off. Initially I figured the charger wasn't plugged in properly and the phone had just died, I was wrong. I took out the battery to reset the phone and the phone shuts off at about 30% of the reboot bar. I tried this again, same thing. I tried it a third time - same thing.
Help please.

The phones about a year old, been dropped a few times. The average wear and tear.

Make sure you have a good battery and try again. Make sure the battery contacts are all touching the terminals on the device and the battery is tight in the compartment.

If you've recently installed an app or a theme, the next thing to try is deleting the last one or two or three things you installed recently. See if you can boot in safe mode (search) and then delete the apps.

Last step if the above is not the solution is to wipe the device and install the OS and start over. See the faq and also the sticky posts at the top of the sub-forum for your model.

If it is hardware damage from liquid or hard shock, none of the above will work for you. If it is liquid damage there is likely no fix that is worth the cost.

The battery is tight and all the compnents are touching, so that's not the issue.

There has not been an app or theme installed in the past few months.

The safe mode boot did not work. Upon holding the escape key while the LED was lit I was not presented with a menu (that I could see).

I should mention that the trackpad hasn't worked for a month plus, I have been able to operate the phone just fine without it. I have a new part on the way though.

Liquid damage should not be the issue either.

It may be hard shock, but I'll have to double check once I have access to my own personal PC.
