BlackBerry Leather Holster
Please Login to Remove!
Has anyone used the BlackBerry leather holster? I have preferred the leather holsters for cell phone so that I don't bang them up. I have tried a soft holster for the BB, but it does not have the magnet to trigger the "in holster" and "out of holster" settings. The soft case is also not rigid enough to prevent unintended phone calls when I lean again something.
So my questions are: does the BlackBerry leather holster have a magnet in it? and is it rigid enough to prevent accidental calls?
Thanks,
David

All of the "RIM" cases have the magnet.

I asked a similar question in a 7290 case thread but never got a response...
So we know now that it has the magnet, but my real concern is: does it hold the phone tight enough? I'm worried about bending over and the phone slipping out.

fits like a glove.. no need to worry about it slipping out.. i have a friend's used old leather holster used with a 6230, and it keeps my 7250 in the case like glue.. slides out easy enough when i need it to, which is perfect.

I can vouch for the fact after getting the hard holser for my Nextel 7520 I could not stand how difficult it was to get out of the plastic holster, switched to the RIM leather holster and have never looked back, never a a problem coming out either.

It's actually a bit too tight, cause it was designed for thr 7280 and the 7290 and 7250 are a bit thicker. It takes a good tug to get it out, and I'm hoping it will stretch a bit!

Yeah, its an excellent case. Fits like a glove if it were cutting off circulation. All joking aside, it definately keeps it nice and snug and after a few weeks of use, it slides in and out nicely (for me it does), and still doesn't fall out of its case at all.

I just got my BB 7250 leather case. I also got a RIM "hydrofoam" sport case and I love both of them. Right now, I am not sure which one I like better, but both have the magnet and both are very good quality. They do offer a very snug fit as well.

For ordering informaton, the 7250/ 7290 specific Leather Holster OEM part number is ACC-08582-001. Redesigned to fit the slightly larger profile for these models. Hydrofoam holsters also work very well with the 7250/ 7290 and 7520 model BlackBerrys and are available as veritcal and horizontal style holsters in Blue, Black and Silver.

I have 2 cases. I bought both on ebay. I have a leather case from Cingular and a RIM leather case. I think the RIM case is the most secure. Yes, it does fit like a glove, but I like the security factor of not having to worry about it falling out. The Cingular case is already stretched out and slipping.
Just my 2 cents....

You can buy the hydrafoam holsters at www.shopblackberry.com or if you live in Canada, Bell carries these.

I wish I would have known that a couple weeks ago. I ordered a RIM leather holster from some cell phone shop and it's the ACC-05150-001, which is labeled for the 7230. No wonder it's way too tight for my 7290...I've been having to force the thing into that case way too hard.
Edit: I'm having a heck of a time finding a dealer that actually lists the specific part numbers. I'd like to still use the leather case, or at least try to use it (I went back to the holster since the other one I had was too tight), but I want to make sure I get the right one this time.

I've been using the standard hard plastic belt clip that came with my 7730, and while it's secure and has a good swivel clip, it's not too protective or stylish. I just ordered the leather holster from www.shopblackberry.com.

Anyone know if this slip-in case has a two-part swivel clip? Or just a plain metal-backed clip?

I really don't like those two-part swivel clips. Too bulky.

Actually the acc-05150-001 does fit the 7290 fine ANY of these leather cases from RIM take between 1-2 weeks to properly stretch to the contour of the device - this is by design not accident. There are some newer SKU's for some of the cases but the design change is more about style than dimensions.

I'm going to have to disagree with you rcg. It takes SO MUCH FORCE to get my 7290 into the holster I have (which I now know is for the 7230), even after more than two weeks and trying to strech it myself by putting my fingers in it and tugging with all my strength, that I know it can't possibly be meant for the 7290. Even when I jam it down in there REALLY hard, I can feel empty space at the bottom of the leather holster, and the top is just stretched beyond belief. Only then does the screen go off, but at that point it takes two hands to get the BB out and the yanking upward on my belt practically gives me a wedgie in the process. No, the ACC-05150-001 definitely does not fit my 7290.

Well I won't discount your experience. The alternative would be the RAC5524/ACC-05505-024. There is a another style coming that is "specific" to the 7290 but honestly it's still generic - it has a stretchy side panel.
You are putting the 7290 in face first right?
