you need a data plan from someone, YES.

You also need a "Plan" from Telenav. Its around $ 9.95 a month.

Blackberry maps are free and with a GPS pod there great. No monthly payments

Just remember that even with BB Maps and Google Maps, you will still need a data plan. I have the unlimited with VZW since with any of the programs can use A LOT of data. I went with Wayfinder's one time $99 life-time fee.

I wish that way finder also integrated the address book to their application. The one thing I disliked is having to go between it and the adress book to get the address in there.
