Default Cannot dial DTMF tones while in a call, e.g., can't enter voice mail password. Ideas?

It's strange..... I can press the keys during a call, and the DO show up on the screen, but on the other end, all they hear is the click of my fingers pressing the keys...

When you are trying to dial the voicemail access, is the BB actually on the phone dialer screen?

Yep - in the main phone dialer screen -- it shows "Connected" to voice mail... and the numbers go across the screen, but no tone...

Set your password in the Voicemail AutoDial under Phone options.

You should be able to have DTMF tones while on a call..

Similar to JRs suggestion, I just have my codes pre-programmed in the speed dial number I use for voice mail for office and voicemail at home, as well on the BB.

Probably a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyway. When you get a voice mail system that prompts you to spell a party's name to get to his or her voice mail, if you press the letters to do so, no DTMF tones. But unless you've memorized the alphabet that goes with each number key on a non-smartphone, how do you dial letters on such a system and get the DTMF tones to use it?

Hold ALT while you dial the correct letters and it will translate it to the traditional number layout for you
