Default Bypass corporate filters

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Sudoku program on my Blackberry that has the option of getting new puzzles once a day from a server hosted by the site magmic.com. Our corporate IT has blocked that site as being a "non-business related" web site, and as soon as they did, I am no longer able to get new puzzles.

I know I can browse to the site if I set my browser to Internet Browser rather than Blackberry Browser... so is there a way to allow all outbound connections from applications other than the Exchange email to go through the carrier's proxy instead of the BES?

This, by the way, is on an 8820 running some sort of v4.5.

Thanks very much.

Circumventing IT policies may get you into trouble.

It is never a good move to circumvent the IT policy placed on your device. In many firms, such an offense can lead to termination.

Thanks for the advice. FWIW, I'm quite sure I was only asking to get around a side effect of a policy that is intended to deal with a different problem that I'm quite aware of (i.e., this was not intended to block downloads of puzzles on handheld devices). After all our IT policy does allow use of the "Internet Browser" on the Blackberry that does not use the corporate proxy. In any case, I think the answer may be no.

Why not ask your IT people and see what they say?
