I am being told that by using the Freedom Keychain/Puck GPS 2000 via the Bluetooth connection on my 8700g (TMO BB Plan) that I will be able to add
GPS capability to this device. Am I getting good info./advice?

It should work, however you need a BB data plan for maps to work. And the limited memory of the 8700 might make it difficult, especially if you have a lot of apps.

And for just a bit more than the price of the puck, you can get a standalone GPS device which is much more capable than a PDA/Smartphone based GPS will be.
