Unhappy past owner forgotten BIS password, need to reallocate my BIS to new BB

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I've bought a 2nd hand 8800 from ebay, but the past owner claims he never used email on the device, or that if he did he doesn't remember setting it up. But, when i tried to create a new email account, and enter my IMEI and PIN, it says this: "Cannot create account. An account already exists for this Blackberry device. Please log in or contact your wireless service provider." When I enter my PIN and IMEI it says the same thing.

The former owner seems unlikely to help or do anything about this because he just keeps saying that he never used email on it. I've tried ringing my service provider, but they just said his (former) service provider has to deal with it. His former service provider obviously won't deal with me.

Any suggestions for how to fix this without needing his help would be really appreciated!

Cheers, Ariane.

Just say to him, "whether or not you used email, can you ring your carrier and ask that your BIS account be deleted".

Whether he understands, denies or negates the fact he used email, just tell him to just call the carrier and ask.

Regardless of his use of email or not, he will have to call his provider and tell them to release the device before your provider can provide any service for it. If he isn't willing to do that try to get your money back, I would suspect the device was stolen.

Often the former service provider will release the PIN if you explain you bought the device used.

So, if they won't, and the seller won't, return the device to the seller, dispute the PayPal and leave appropriate feedback for the seller.
