This is my first post (just registered today), but I have been reading the forums whenever I have problems with my Blackberry. Unfortunately, I could not find the answer to this question.

Recently, the CAPS notification has been flashing on and off. It has been annoying the heck out of me - can't get it to stop. When I type, the letters randomly get CaPPeD, and when I scroll through messages or on the web, everything gets highlighted (like a copy & paste type action).

I don't think that the button is stuck <--if it is, how do I fix it?

Could this be an OS issue? I cannot find the software and cable that came with the phone. It's SOMEWHERE in the house, but when we had our baby 4 months ago, everything got thrown somewhere. From what I can read, to reload the OS, I need the software and cable.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Did the device get exposed to moisture of any kind?

HI devnull...no, the phone did not get wet. I do believe it was dropped just before this happened -- forgot to mention that, sorry...haha.

I just did a battery pull and the CAPS thing is on during the whole reboot.

Any information you can provide prior to the problem starting is helpful in diagnosis.

I would guess the phone sustained some hardware damage due to droppage.

Wonderful. I guess I will have to deal with it for a while. I have the replacement plan, but the stupid deductible is $75 for a SmartPhone!

Thanks for your help. Can I disable the CAPS buttons, or at least change what they do? I know on an old phone of mine, I could program pretty much any button to do what I wanted. Can I do that on a Blackberry?
