Default charging mutliple blackberrys at once

Please Login to Remove!

hi,

i need to charge upto 40 blackberrys at once, i have tried doing this with a USB splitter daisychained but this has been troublesome. Is there anything out there that can charge the batteries by themselves or charge multiple blackberrys at once efficiently?

Help much appreciated!!

Regards

Wirelessly posted (blackjack IV)

I think you will have to have something custom made for that many BB's

RIM had a device that would just charge batteries from the 7250 series device; but I've never seen something handle more than a single BB.

I would think a USB hub would be the best.

any suggestions into how this can be done then? im not so keen on the idea of charging them via USB anymore, so wonder if there is a way i can get hold of the mains adaptors and maybe modify them so that they can all be plugged into a wall socket via one plug or something similar.

anyone got any further advice/ideas?
when plugged into a usb hub i get a message on the blackberrys saying the usb charging current is not suficient. This is even though the hubs are powered so amplify the power anyway. its difficult with up to 40 blackberrys because even if i can get up to 3 per hub, that still means 14 hubs to charge them all... it takes up a lot of space!!

Here's a 13 port hub.

I have a 7-port on my desk (5 are used at all times)

I'm thinking this is a one-time thing as you would have to deploy the units after configuring them... so why not just use the wall chargers that came with the units and use a few power strips to plug them in... they dont take too long to charge....

keep in mind folkd 40 chargers ultimately plugged into one outlet via power strips is a safety/fire hazard! I know the BB chargers don't draw a lot of power but 40 to one outlet I wouldn't do it.

I would love to hear the PLAN though

If it were a permanent fixture, I would definitely not go down this route, I'd probably use 2-4 outlets... But, for a one-shot deal, I think 40 chargers (~0.2-0.5A each) over 8 6-position power strips with surge protection should not be a problem, especially that it'll only take 2-3 hours to complete the task.

my 2 cents

Still sounds like a scary proposition.

crackberry.addict has the right idea, that is very similar to my plan.

What i'm actually going to do is charge 20 at a time via extension leads and multiple chargers and just rotate the charging cycle every few days to top them up. that way there will always be 20 BB's with full charge and 20 with a days worth of discharge which should amount to no more than about 5% hopefully.

It isnt actually a one off idea, but a storage of devices that need to be kept charged in case of an emergency.

Regards
