8700 Hard Case
Please Login to Remove!
I used to have a Palm M515 and had a hard aluminum case that I dropped hundreds of times, never damaging my Palm. I haven't found any like I want for my 8700 yet, anyone know of any being made or in the works?
I'm not talking about the partial aluminum "stylish" covers on the 7200 series phones, I mean a full encasing metal shell that actually protects it.
Thanks,

The lack of 8700 cases, holsters, etc. is pretty shocking... I have a leather holster that works with the 8700 - it was not designed for it, but I am still surprised that there's nothing out there yet!

no financial interest. magnet works great and has a nice swivel. only downside is the leather on the swivel gets worn because it is not glued down. syringe filled with crazy glue and injected on to the edge under the leather fixed.

As well as the 7130. So far only RIM (shopblackberry.com) has anything for these new devices.

Do the 7100 cases work for the 7130? There are a ton of aftermarket 7100 cases out there.

From what I've read, most do not. Fit is one issue and the other is the sleeper function. Seems the magnet in the case is in a slightly different place for the 7130 to work. I hope 3rd party case manufacturers starting making new products for the 7130 and 8700 series. Based on all the posts in the 71xx thread there are lots of new BB users.

Interesting because I had a 7100t, a 7105t and now a 7130e. I could swear the OEM holster is exactly the same. I have some aftermarket cases at home and will try them out.

7100, 8700 Case
One more time, www.gizmoskin.com. Sleeper switch works. No problem with the case except for leather wearing on clip. Beautiful quality. No financial interest.

I'm sure it works great... but it is hideous! Reminds of those old glasses pouches :P
I'd like to see a SkinTight or some type of latex-mold cover.

Doesn't look like a hard case to me, unless leather turns you on.

Great. Let me know what does/doesn't work. I have the clip leather case and the swivel leather case from RIM. The clip case is so hard to clip on the belt and the swivel case has a flap which I really don't like - but the clip is easy to manage.

That's not exactly correct... we have everything shopblackberry does - just cheaper.

There is a new 7100 case that has the old swivel belt clip from the previous gen 72xx cases. The difference (as mentioned) is this new leather case has a flap at the top to close the case.
Before you ask these have been out of stock since they were introduced. As are the Batteries - we sort of we have the Nextel version (same CS2 Battery).

8700 Cases.
This is not a surprising situation since this was the same experience when the 7100 was intro'd a year+ ago. RIM just doesn't get it.
I'm using this case right now http://store.bizshopr.com/spdmon0193.html for my 8700... it's too wide but since there is a magnetic flap that close the top the 8700 stays in no problem. Bonus is the magnetic latch triggers holster mode. Good accident.

Is this the same case RIM offers? I already have the swivel leather case with magnetic flap and I am dissapointed with it.

Ok, this looks nice, and even though it might not be a prefect fit, it might keep my BB from hitting the ground again. I notice on their order page, they list about 15 different BB models (62xx, 65xx, 72xx, 75xx), which one do you have? And which one might be the closest to the size of a 8700?

Cases look very well made. It seems like most people who purchased liked it so are there anyone out there that DON'T and why?

That case SUCKS! Sent mine back as soon as it started peeling apart from the GLUED seams! Stay away.
If you want a metal case, as the OP implied, check this out: http://www.blackberryforums.com/show...ght=metal+case

I'm looking for something that provides total protection while in a coat pocket.
